mood: lukewarm
music: 'how to disappear completely' by radiohead
things over here have slowed to a crawl. there also seems to be an excess of sighing coming from my room.
the other day, as i walked by the jesuit residence at loyola, i noticed a distinct scent. normally, the cooks are always cooking something, and just walking by, alone, can be tremendously rewarding. it was 2 days ago, though, that i noticed that the drifting scent was that of the notorious funnel cake. that elusive treat that has kristy in the palm of its conspiring hand. instantly, i thought of our trip to knott's in december. what a turbulent month that was for me.
well, the law of cycles is taking over again. it's just like the tides. before christmas, things were intolerably slow. then the holidays gave me a few new manic episodes juxtaposed and interwined with bouts of depression. and now things are slowing down again. i wonder what the spring holds for my fragile psyche.
i got my hair cut, and because of vague directions and faulty cosmotological manuevers, i have a hybrid of a bowl cut and a mullet. let's see if we can't get that fixed tomorrow after school.

have you heard the (terrible, terrible) song Cut the Mullet by now-deceased Wesley Willis (I think that was his name)?
I love How to Disappear Completely, and they surprised me and played it both encores at the shows I saw, one in Tokyo. I especially like the note Thom stretches, near the end and just after a series of rather haunting sounds.
no, i haven't heard of that song before, but i'm listening to a 30-sec sample of it on allmusic.com. you're right, it's really really bad. an offtune hybrid of devo and this drummer bum i know at the santa monica promenade.
as for thom, he really does have a gift for those falsettos, huh? his voice seems to complement the music perfectly, especially in 'how to disappear'. alas, i have yet to see radiohead live. i hear they put on a very elecrifying live show. i'm going to have to go to their next show out here to make up for not going to coachella.
yes they were great live. my first show of theirs was at shoreline in mountain view, which I actually snuck into because i was too poor to pay fifty bucks. now i know how to sneak in there.
the teacher who will replace me here, and live in this huge gorgeous house i've grown to love, will be here tomorrow. so, i am sitting in this great room that will become his bedroom (long story why) and enjoying it for the last time as The Living Room.
tomorrow, my friend yohko tells me, she will take me to a place where we can see many tanukis (raccoon dogs). yesterday i watched Leon, which i guess in the states is called the professional, a film with youg natalie portman who becomes an assassin's apprentice. it was really worth watching.
hmm, i've never really had to sneak into a show, but i imagine it would be fun to try. i don't really go to those stadium shows often, though, so there's really no need for me... yet.
when exactly are you moving out anyways? (and i'll assume it's to the bay area.)
and thanks for the movie recommendation. i don't watch very many, but you seem to share my tastes in entertainment, so i'll see to it.
