jeez. can you believe it's been a (expletive) year? here's the unoffical list:

car broke down twice (overheated, flat tire)

lost 10 pounds
gained 10 pounds

bent a fork around my wrist and almost never took it off
went home from indo by myself
invented 'hola gatita!'
got randomly complemented on my hair twice
bought a new amp
played 2 party gigs
started smoking
went to 5 concerts and 1 music festival
got a job
developed an addiction to buying cds
discovered the salvation army and other places with cheap things
went to a carnival
dressed up as a beatnik 3 times
went to 2 plays
went to the movies twice
scanned my face
spent a day at knott's berry farm
bought half a dozen pairs of sunglasses at less than $1 each
got the pox (chicken)
found a neighborhood cafe (in a really far neighborhood)
found an art house cafe (in an even farther neighborhood)
did 96 hours of community service
established the fabled status of funnel cake
discovered the fourth person ever to have a crush on me
chose a band name
colleges: 3 accepted, 2 rejected, 2 waiting list
got my first and only parking ticket
pulled my first all-nighter for no reason
made crepes
went to new york
new years call for a fresh start. stuffs and whatsits are updated.

i'm gonna respond to the epiphany/god post soon, at the moment i am posting some pictures. i think they will be blurry and dark because the cairo photo shop i went to is on the cheap side of things.
thank you for the mention on your list. i had to write a sestina for my dante class in 2002.
egypt! it's great here so far but a lot of men have walked alongside me for unbidden lengths, saying You are very beautiful, etc. or Would you like to go...(the standard cairo tourist places) or even trying to get me to go to the duty free store so they don't have to pay tax on booze (but then I would, at the airport, so no way).
i went to the pyramids today by horse. galloping in the sahara with my very kind and respectful (and attractive) guide. it was fantastic, though the sphynx seemed so small.
