nice image. i am listening to thunder this morning, and thai birdsong. i will ask about detail of your epiphany. because any epiphany, marked as it is by seeming unimportance, wouldn't be an epiphany if it weren't otherwise.
about your dad's suggestion and how i am traveling- i am alternating staying with various people, and staying on my own. in asia this is cheap to do. on the island last week i had my own hut for three bucks a night, less than twenty steps from the sea. hostels/guest houses all over asia are from 4-10 dollars a night. and the people i stay with aren't always families. but sometimes the families turn out better than i thought. admitedly, a couple of times, only an hour into somebody's place, i would be certain that i would get bored out of my mind with these people, only to find that i could learn from them, that i had something to give them, that they are some of the kindest people i have ever met.
anyway i think it's a good idea. you can look at hospitality.club.com or globalfreeloaders.com (they do ask that you offer in return, not accommodation, but to show travelers around. that part is up to you).
i have a new post! (excuse my lame self promotion please)
