right now i'm in nice, which is right on the border of france and the mediterranean. it's like a french santa monica or san diego. the weather is perfect and the women are gorgeous.
we took a bus for a collective 12 hours to get up here, staying at orange for a night in transit. i really do love france, but i think that barcelona was the best so far.
this trip had catapulted my popularity thus far, not to mention my wrist-fork notoriety. i'm getting along with people i hadn't gotten along with in 4 years at loyola. it's weird to think that i'm not going to see most of these people ever again after next week.
europe has made me smoke way too much. what a cop-out. still, since being in europe, it's extremely hard not to smoke a pack a day, which i did the day before yesterday. the ensuing guilt was hard to overcome. as a side note, we've been a horrible influence on the group, as at least 5 other people have at least tried smoking once after seeing andres and me puffing away like madmen. more notoriety.
remember when i went to new york a few months ago? on the plane there, i was reading nabokov's lolita, which deals with a pedophile and his philosophies during a crush of his. the first thing christian and i did after arriving was babysit 2 10-year-olds, and there was a definite weirdness in the air that afternoon. similiarly, on this 12-hour flight i read chbosky's perks of being a wallflower and finished in on the plane. in the book a high-school freshman makes friends with 2 seniors. on this trip andres and i, 2 graduated seniors, have made friends with an incoming sophomore. coincidental, no doubt, but still eerie.
in a few days, we'll be going to italy with the same cramped bus. i haven't read the revised itinerary like a good boy, so i don't know which cities are first, but it ends with rome and rome is preceded by florence and other cities, whose order of arrival i have no idea about.
i miss home, and the occasional blast of cold weather, not to mention the fact that my lungs weren't as deathly black as they probably are now. i can't complain about the population, though, even if they do seem bitter to have me in their stores every once in a while. ciao.

Goei! Rome! Please tell what you think of it after you visit it; I loved Rome more than I thought I ever would.
I am happy you are traveling. Yesterday I went kayaking in Tomales Bay, another world in itself.
What kind of smokes do you like?
i don't really have a brand. i tend to switch brands every time i buy a new pack, just because i want to see what the big differences are.
my comfort pack would be one of parliament lights, since they have a weird filter thing i like.
