mood: arrogantmusic: 'glass and the ghost children' by the smashing pumpkins

so, for those of you that don't already know, my cousin indra moved into the house and is going to attend west l.a. college. today i got coffee with allison and brought him along. he seems to be getting comfortable already, and that's impressive. i know that even if i was better at the language, i would have one hell of a time adjusting to living in indonesia for school.

anyways, i dropped him off back at home and met with andres and kristy. kristy had school the next day, so she left early. andres and i had nothing to do, so we just drove aimlessly. after asking 'where are we going?' for the 4th time, i realized it didn't matter, so i just kept driving.

we were putting in different cds and critiquing them pretty thoroughly. we could have had our own traveling musical version of ebert & roeper's show. it was like playing a game of telephone with relevant tangents flying left and right. at the beginning of a song like pacific uv's 'out in the blue', we'd be at 79th & flight in westchester discussing the likeness of the guitars to the jesus and mary chain and the vocals to slowdive. by the end of the song, we'd be rounding the corner at manchester & la cienega in inglewood, passing the epic randy's donuts monument and talking about the subtlety in flavor of european arugula and how our conversation of it branded us as the eccentric twin outcasts during the trip.

one day we're going to plan a listening party, everyone will come and leave out of boredom within 20 minutes of the first album. all that's left will be andres, me, and a conversation having something to do with either mr. wood's brother, the top of a police officer's head, or lucius p. brother, guitarist extraordinaire.
