music: 'prisoner of mars' by stereolab

it's midterm week and i don't particularly care. i should care, but i don't. it kind of scares me.

anyway i've been real bipolar down here. just yesterday i was both on top of the world and down in the doldrums seeking tackle-hugs for egoboosts.

i suppose i'll tell you about the friends i've made down here. first off is adam, my roommate. he's from statesboro, georgia, which is odd because not many people come from out-of-state because it's supremely harder to get in to uci from anywhere other than california. he listens to a lot of interesting music, and i reap the benefits of a different taste. i've told him of heather from augusta, and he says she might know of statesboro, even though it's such a small town. small world.

randall is my twin. he's got my hair, my bitter outlook on life, and a mind of both useful and useless facts. he's an electrical engineering major and i'm philosophy, so i think of things that don't exist and he creates them. we'd probably think of a lot of fucked up things to bring into the world if we had the chance. together we're the pranksters of the hall. just the other night we went rabbit hunting and almost succeeded. a few weeks back i helped him and a handful of others cook chinese food in our subpar kitchen. we finish each others' thoughts. scary.

melissa is the little bit of heaven on the second floor. i spend a lot of time in her room distracting her from her studies and deciphering her grunting system. she's ticklish and usually doesn't succeed in escaping my iron grip. until, of course, she remembers that i'm just as ticklish, and the tables turn.

as for me, i've found solice is the weather channel and making badges for my messenger bag. i was deemed 'sexiest man alive' in the first week according to randall's posters, which, of course, included my actual phone number and led to the freefalling of my cellphone's funds. if you want something to keep you up so you can study, you come to me for a cup of indonesian coffee. if you want the opposite, you come to me anyway because according to the consensus i have the most comfortable bed. to some i epitomize 'emo', which pisses me off. other things that tend to attract random people: my fork bracelet, my packing tape wallet, my 'emo' hair, my guitar-playing, me blasting videogame music ('computer world' by kraftwerk) when i'm studying, and the fact that no one ever sees me doing homework.

the other night i played 'cherub rock' acoustic at an open-mic night here on campus. somehow i left the courtyard as a new member of the activities committee that put on the show.

in other news, i brought melissa to l.a. last weekend and she met everyone and saw everything that was my former life. she's still obsessed about what my parents, the usuals, and the not-so-usuals thought of her. she absolutely loved unurban, and i don't blame her, and she downed a milkshake from cacao at lightspeed, which is very understandable. aside from that, she was extremely excited at the abundance of 99 cent stores. don't judge her.

but that's really all for now. i'm sure there'll be lots more stories after this week since it's the last one for midterms and it's also halloween weekend. hopefully i won't explode from the mood swings.

Ah, college life :)

Yes, I have heard of Statesboro! You have to drive through it to get to Savannah, so technically I've seen it six times ;> Also, my friend Kelly's family lives in Statesboro.
