umm... there's really no good way to segue this.
...
actually, that's a lie. i just don't feel like putting the effort into seguing.
so, uhh... san francisco's nice in the winter.
...
actually, most of the time that's a lie too, but there's the effort. here's a better one:
gosh, i miss the days when i would go do things that seem outrageous and don't quite make sense. oh by the way, i went to san francisco the other day. yeah, i'm back now though.
better?
i went to visit melissa, who goes there twice a year. basically it went like this:
December 21, 2005
6:00PM -- got back from 10 days in Indonesia/Singapore. total time on an airplane: 37 hours.
December 22, 2005
9:30PM -- decided to go to San Francisco in the morning
December 23, 2005
1:30-2:30AM -- packed
2:30AM -- booked hotel room for one night
3:00AM -- planned to leave at 10AM
3:30AM -- planned to leave at 9AM
4:00AM -- left for San Francisco
9:30AM -- arrived in San Francisco, got lost
10:30AM -- found hotel, parked the car
10:35AM -- was told to come back at 2PM
10:40AM-12PM -- found melissa's grandma's house (3 blocks from hotel), wandered around randomly by myself
12:00PM -- surprised melissa at her doorstep, went to dim sum and tried to explain myself to her parents
1:00-2:00PM -- wandered around chinatown with melissa
2:00PM -- checked into hotel
5:30PM-4:00AM(j/k) -- dinner at a cousin's house
10:00PM-1AM -- rode cable car, hot chocolate at ghiardelli, acoustic guitar escapades
December 24, 2005
1:00AM -- walked melissa back to grandma's house
1:30AM-3:30AM -- couldn't sleep (wtf.)
3:30AM -- went to sleep
10:00AM -- alarm went off. woke up, went back to sleep
10:20AM -- woke up, realized i had 88 cents left on my shitty prepaid phone
11:00AM -- checked out of hotel
11:30AM -- had light lunch with melissa and her cousin
12:45PM -- left San Francisco
1:30PM -- 'rockstar' energy drink #1
3:00PM -- 'rockstar' energy drink #2
6:45PM -- arrived in Los Angeles
6:46PM -- took a deep breath
i had a great time, and it still amazes me how quickly everything went by, but how slowly time seemed to pass at times. and i mean that in a good way.
one thing i'll remember is the city lights and how they seemed to cover the entire city like a starscape on the ground. maybe it was the fact that i got about 6 hours of sleep in two days, but everything in the city seemed to glimmer and shine, even if it wasn't lit up.
oh, and melissa's face when she saw me across the street from the house was priceless.
so yeah, san francisco was good.

How neat! Impulse trips are awesome :) I'm glad you had a good time :)
Did you take any pictures of those pretty lights?
I'm glad you had a good enough time up here. You never cease to surprise me. I love it! I hope it was worth the drive.
