music: 'off your face' by my bloody valentine
tonight i woke up at 1:38PM to christian's phone call. i felt like it was going to be a crappy day. after showering and eating something, i called him back and he came over to pick me up. a few more minutes oggling my photo-covered wall and we were off to 'urth cafe', which christian has been saying he'd take me to for a while now. i got the specialty (a spanish latte) and went to sit down outside. oddly enough, we sat next to queen latifah, which seemed rather natural for some reason. i didn't talk to her, but she's just got a down-to-earth aura about her.
afterwards, we went to sergio's house for a little band practice and from there christian and i went to his school's musical. this time, st. monica's was presenting 'the sound of music', and being slightly interested i decided 'why not?'. the tickets were free anyway. the play was mediocre, and i couldn't get over the dancing and singing nuns. i knew about 2 of the people casted, and i knew of probably half the cast.
it lasted about 3 hours, which i thought was extremely long until i remembered that 'the sound of music' vhs i had at home spanned 2 cassettes. chris, allison, and i went to in n out after picking up andres and kristy. then after i received a phone call and asked permission from them, i ditched to the santa monica norm's to hang out with christian and the cast.
this turned my entire day around. i saw some familiar faces and a whole lot of new ones. people were amazed that i knew how binary worked among other things, and i spent a few minutes explaining it to a small group. it was really weird having the spotlight on me for once, but i did my best not to buckle. not to be arrogant, but something inside me clicked and i started charming the hell out of everyone. after it was all said and done, it was about 1:30AM and we had nowhere to go, so everyone went to their respective rides and went home. christian's friends have amazing cars. (i.e. -- saleens, lexuses, beemers, etc.)
leave it to the last minute. freakin day...

oh, also interesting. i met some very pleasant american girls/women in Athens, and they spontaneously started singing from The Sound of Music, a few days ago. I have never seen it.
