i've found a makeshift 'walden' here at uci. i guess it's just what i needed. still, though, i'm ambivalent. clean air, clean streets, friendly people, peace and quiet. to put it flatly, i'm bored a lot.
i'm surprised how much i haven't written, seeing as how i have tons of free time. i have no fridge, no tv, no microwave, and basically no food. my car's parked a quarter-mile away, so i'm walking around a lot, learning my way around campus slowly.
but like i said, i'm ambivalent. i still like it around here. i've met tons of people already, as well as old friends from loyola and from orientation. i've given up on comparing welcome week to orientation, because that's just too high a standard.
my roommate's name is adam. he's from georgia, and he's loud. no joke. but not in an annoying way. aside from that, he's just like me. we sleep late, wake up late, have common points of interest in music, and we agree on the fact that irvine is going to make us lose tons of weight. walking everywhere, sweating off pounds, million-mile lines to the cafeteria that aren't worth the food. i lucked out with him i guess.
the internet is down often here, so checking mail is a privilege to take advantage of. ennui rears its ugly head now and again.
