mood: quiet
music: 'sometimes' by my bloody valentine
you would think i was bourgeoise by how often the ennui sets it.
it's overcast today and i don't have much to do. and it's nice. but it's not. but i know that as soon as i have to get up off of my ass and do something, i'll realize how nice it really was.
something to relate to the music: i just got my copy of the loveless book by the 33 1/3 series. for those who have never heard of it, it's a series that takes monumental albums and parses them according to the dynamics of the songs and history behind the tracks. loveless (the book) isn't very well written. i love the valentines, though, so i tend to endure the writing to learn more about the album.
speaking of books, though, textbooks made me broke. and now, coachella tickets are on sale and i can't really do anything about it. $250 for a 3-day pass? holy shit! what a blatant rape of the audiophiles! the lineup's pretty good, but that's what coachella's known for. case in point: remember 'rage against the machine'? they're getting back together for the last night. and that's why it's $90 for a one day pass that's already starting to sell out. what the fuck, people? it's a freaking festival at a polo field. how do you sell out a square mile of grassy space in one day for $90 a ticket? whereas, i could've been content with paying that price to see only the artists i like on one day, i would have to pay triple that because all of my bands are spread out between three nights and sandwiched with acts like paul van dyk, ghostface killah, and the red hot chili peppers, among others, all of which aren't worth one red cent to me.
what is a starving undergrad to do?
